For five years, Aaron Harris insisted he was innocent. He claimed he found his wife’s body, called 911 in a panic, and had no idea what happened. But last Thursday, in a dramatic turn before his trial could proceed, Harris finally confessed: he murdered Candice Harris.

The guilty plea marks the end of a long, twisted saga that gripped Las Vegas and left a trail of unanswered questions, conflicting stories, and shattered lives.

The Charges and the Deal

Harris, 54, pleaded guilty to three felonies:

  • Murder with a deadly weapon
  • Lewdness with a child under 14
  • Sexual assault

Under the plea agreement, he will serve 32 years to life in the Nevada Department of Corrections. Had the jury convicted him, Harris could have faced life without parole.

The Evidence That Broke the Case

Investigators presented a damning timeline:

  • Candice’s clothing was found in a home linked to Harris.
  • Cellophane, believed to be used in the murder, was recovered.
  • GPS data from Harris’s ankle monitor—worn due to prior child molestation charges—placed him in Candice’s SUV and at the desert site where her body was discovered.

Despite calling 911 to report her missing, Harris never mentioned finding her body. In a 2021 jailhouse interview, he told reporters:

“I don’t know what occurred. I just found my wife like that.”

But prosecutors played that interview for jurors, highlighting the inconsistencies and evasions. The GPS wasn’t an eyewitness, Harris argued—but it told a story he couldn’t escape.

The Victim and the Fallout

Candice Harris wasn’t just a victim—she was also a co-defendant in the original sex crimes case against her husband, accused of failing to protect the children involved. Her death, and the revelations that followed, cast a harsh light on cycles of abuse and silence.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 28, and the community is bracing for closure—or reckoning.
