Herbert Wigwe, the founder of Access Bank and Wigwe University, was killed in a California helicopter accident, according to reports.
Wigwe was also the CEO of Access Holdings, the holding company of Access Bank.
He and his wife, son and three others were in the helicopter when it crashed.
The chopper was flying to Las Vegas when it crashed near a border town between Nevada and California on Friday night.
The US government said all six people on board died and no survivors were found as of Saturday morning.
The Eurocopter EC130 helicopter crashed around 10:00 pm local time, near Nipton, California, a small place about 60 miles south of Las Vegas in eastern San Bernardino County, the United States Federal Aviation Administration said. Mara Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the department, said the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department learned of the crashed aircraft at 10:12 pm, local time.
She said the crash site was east of Interstate 15, near Halloran Springs Road.
The New York Times reported the incident but did not identify the passengers.
There has been no official statement on the incident.
