Police stopped a New York man who drove his pickup truck on the beach in Florida after breaking through a gate.

A camera recorded Jason Brzuszkiewicz, 49, driving his Dodge Ram on the sand of New Smyrna Beach around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Brzuszkiewicz ignored the closed gate, which was shut to cars because of a big tide and a strong wind.

He also did not pay the fee to drive on the beach.

The sheriff’s office video showed Brzuszkiewicz driving his white pickup in the water for more than a minute.

He tried to do a donut in the water in part of the video.

Three lifeguards came to the empty beach and saw the 48-year-old go deeper into the sea.

They told police they went to Brzuszkiewicz to see if he was sick.

Deputies told him the beach was shut to cars due to the weather.

Brzuszkiewicz said in the video, “The truck can’t surf, that’s not my fault.”

A deputy said, “But you can’t drive on the beach when the gates are locked.”

He was later arrested and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
