A suspected gas leak blast at the Sandman Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas, left 21 people wounded yesterday, according to the city’s fire department.
The explosion did not claim any lives and the reason was under investigation.
The scene of the incident revealed debris on the road between two structures where emergency workers were present.
Several people stuck in the hotel’s lower level were saved by first responders, said Craig Trojacek, a representative of the Fort Worth Fire Department.
According to Trojacek, one of the 21 people wounded was in a critical state, and four others had severe but non-fatal injuries. The rest had minor injuries.
Trojacek said there were guests in 26 hotel rooms. He also said that there was some building work happening in the structure at the time of the blast, but its involvement was uncertain.
