Six people were hurt when a teenager led police on a high-speed chase in northeast Harris County and crashed his car.
The driver, who was 16 years old according to police, wrecked his vehicle on Kingwood Drive near the Eastex Freeway.
Law enforcement said that a Plum Grove police officer spotted a Chevrolet pickup truck with a broken tail light.
The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped up west on FM 2090 through Splendora, then turned north to East River, and then came back south on I-69 at 110 MPH.
Officers said the teen then continued on and off the feeder roads of I-69. After driving through FM 2090, Creekwood, Roman Forest, and FM 1485 intersections, the driver reportedly continued traveling south at a high rate of speed.
The Department of Safety and Montgomery County deputies began to assist with the chase as the driver continued through FM 1314 onto Northpark where he turned eastbound for a short distance before making a U-turn.
When he got to I-69, police said he then got on the freeway at Northpark where he again accelerated.
As the driver approached the Kingwood area, the pickup truck slammed into a Toyota Tundra.
Police said the teen kept driving on and off the I-69 feeder roads. He sped through FM 2090, Creekwood, Roman Forest, and FM 1485 intersections, then went south.
The Department of Safety and Montgomery County deputies joined the chase as he drove through FM 1314 onto Northpark, where he went east for a bit and then turned around.
He reached I-69 and got on the freeway at Northpark, where he sped up again.
The pickup truck crashed into a Toyota Tundra near Kingwood.
Plum Grove got help from DPS, Montgomery County, and the Houston Police Department in the crash probe.
Investigators found two firearm magazines and a holster in the pickup. They think the teenager tossed a gun out of the window during the chase.
The teenager will likely face several charges.
