A man was arrested after a “quantity of chemicals” was found at a Catford address suspected of being a bomb factory.
The Metropolitan Police arrived at the address in Daneby Road on Friday at about 1.20pm following concerns about potentially explosive chemicals being kept there. Officers put a cordon in place and carried out searches and recovered the chemicals.
Two fire engines and two fire and rescue units were at the scene on the residential street.
The police stated that the incident is not related to terror.
A 26-year-old man was arrested outside the address and brought into police custody.
The Met has said the enquiries and investigations are still in progress.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “We were contacted by the Metropolitan Police to support them with an incident on Daneby Road in Catford this afternoon at 1441.
“Two fire engines and two fire and rescue units were at the scene.
“Firefighters coordinated with emergency service partners but the Brigade did not have to do anything.
“The incident was left to the Metropolitan Police.”
