It’s not a fantasy; You might see AI-generated news anchors on your TV next year.
Channel 1 claims to be the first news network to use artificial intelligence. The aim is to provide each viewer with a customized news show.
But many journalists are concerned about how this will affect their careers in the news sector.
The virtual news presenters will be based on a real person’s scan with a synthetic voice. They will look like human beings, but they will not show any genuine emotion while delivering the news.
The news channel’s founder said their goal is to “lead the way and use technology responsibly.”
However, many people are already expressing their doubts and worries about the quality of journalism.
“I feel old when I say this, but I find this all so strange. The metaverse and artificial intelligence. It’s all strange, but that’s where we’re going,” said Steve Krakauer, a media contributor for NewsNation. “2024 will be a strange, chaotic, crazy year. Whatever you add, artificial intelligence will only get stranger. But hey, strange or not, this is our future.”
So, the news anchors are not real, but what about the news itself?
Founder Adam Mosam said that Channel 1 will use three sources for its news content.
They are collaborations with traditional media outlets, hired independent reporters and news stories created by artificial intelligence from official records and documents.
The network intends to start free streaming with ads on different apps as soon as February.
