A tragic incident occurred at the burial of a 10-year-old girl who was killed by a stray bullet on Mother’s Day in Washington, DC.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, Wilson Chavis, the owner of Compassion and Serenity Funeral Home, shot and killed Ronald Banks, a 30-year-old pallbearer and family friend of the deceased child, Arianna Davis.
A second victim, an adult female who was Arianna’s cousin, was also injured by a gunshot wound to the leg.
The shooting was reportedly motivated by a long-standing business dispute between Chavis and another funeral service company, Freeman’s Funeral Services, that was also involved in the funeral arrangements.
Chavis allegedly confronted and assaulted a pastor and another person affiliated with Freeman’s Funeral Services at the gravesite, before pulling out a gun and opening fire.
